Customs
Maritime Cargo Services (MCS) provides a full Customs Clearance service for both importers and exporters covering goods shipped by road, sea or air. Our dedicated customs team understands both the complexities of Customs Clearance and the necessity to make the process as smooth as possible for our customers. Our strong links and excellent relationships with the Port Authorities enables us to provide up to date information at all times.

EDI links facilitate clearance through all UK ports (including Felixstowe, Tilbury, Thamesport, Southampton, Liverpool, Sheerness, Bristol and Belfast). As a result, goods are usually Customs Cleared within an hour of the vessel’s arrival and whilst still on board the ship.
For imports into Europe, MCS can also offer first-class Customs Clearance and warehousing facilities in Rotterdam.
MCS offers its clients a free deferment account service enabling start-up importers to quickly establish their operations with minimum cost and inconvenience.
We can also assist with bonded shipments, IPR/OPR (Inward/Outward Processing Relief) and CFSP (Customs Freight Simplified Procedure) clearance requirements.
Insuring your goods in transit
Like most freight forwarders MCS trades under Conditions of Carriage which govern our liability to our customers in the event of the loss of or damage to goods. more »
In our case we trade under the conditions of the British International Freight Association. This is standard industry practice and, as a responsible freight forwarder, we insure our liability under our conditions.
However, this does not mean that your goods are insured on an All Risks basis when they are in transit.
The responsibility falls on the goods owner to arrange insurance.

If you are a business importing or exporting on a regular basis, it may be that you already have an annual marine cargo insurance policy in place which will provide the cover you need.

However, if you are a private Individual, or a business shipping goods infrequently, you may need to arrange a single policy to cover one shipment.

We can now arrange that policy on your behalf.

Please ask us for an insurance quotation, and bear in mind that the payment of a small premium means that you can relax in the knowledge that your cargo is insured.
